Q-How did the band come up with the name The Honeymoon thrillers?

A- got it from an article in a magazine.

Q- who is who in the band and what instrument does each of you play?

A-Nathan Barlowe-lead vocals/gtr
Cary Barlowe-gtr
Chris Boyle-bass
Josiah Holland-keys
Jared Byers-drums

Q-What genre of music do you consider your work to be

A-indie surf rock

Q-Who are your major influences?

A-The Beach Boys & The Smiths

Q-How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?

A-I have known Cary his whole life:) The other guys I have met trough the years playing in various bands. I’ve known Jared 11 years and Chris and Jo about 8 yrs.

Q-When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together?

A- February in the year 2010. I had written these songs and wanted some cool friends to play them with me

Q-Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organizations?

A-No label at the moment. Do they exist anymore?
We are members of the kick ass music club

Q-What can you tell me about your instruments? (i.e., Are you subject to brand loyalty or will you play with whatever’s available? What made you choose the instruments you have now? Was it cost or was it a style/model/brand/color preference?

A-We have a few endorsements, but in the spirit of rebellious indie rock I refuse to name them.

Q-Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?

A-We have only done 5 shows together so we are brand new but the response has been amazing! Our first show ever was at SXSW Festival in Austin, TX

Q-Which songs do you perform most frequently?

A-Our whole album

Q-Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?

A-I wrote the songs on this record except for 1 co written with my brother. Love, Loss, Sunshine, Surfing, Letting Go are the themes… Oh and paranoia.

Q-.What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?

A-We just plan to get together when all of our schedules allow which is sometimes a problem. Generally practice consists of me being 25 minutes late, then us talking and catching up for an hour while setting up, then a smoke break, then we eat, and sometimes we play music. Or not.

Q-What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

A-All of us being in town and available at the same time. No we haven’t overcome it yet.

Q-What’s your ultimate direction for your band?

A-North

Q-What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands or be writers?

A-Go to College
